A joint initiative by SEMMARIS and the Val-de-Marne Chamber of Commerce and Industry
Rungis Market has housed the Rungis&Co incubator for innovative companies since September 2015. Created by SEMMARIS and placed under the guidance of the Val-de-Marne Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the incubator offers premises and support for project initiators (young companies under 2 years old and entrepreneurs) in the food, gourmet, logistics and service sectors.
Rungis, a testing ground for innovation
The creation of Rungis&Co embodies the commitment by SEMMARIS (manager of Rungis wholesale market) to create impetus for innovation in relation to the Market’s physical activity, thereby ensuring the sustainability of its companies and contributing to the Market’s attractiveness. Setting up the business incubator is a collective response by the Market to major changes in food trade practices, due in particular to the emergence of new information and communication technologies.
The projects selected by Rungis&Co aim to create potential added value for the Market as a whole. Some fledgling entrepreneurs under Rungis&Co’s wing have already developed company activities or innovative services relating to the Market: recycling, continuous remote temperature control of the cold chain and a digital platform to optimise local logistics.
